Hassan's Fate

I don't know what love means at all. All I know is that I have loved you with all my heart, and now I can't take it back, even if I'm dying.
Sometimes, it happens that you pour your everything into something you believe is wholly worthy of your time and energy. When things fall apart, and enough time has passed, you may even try to breathe life back into it.
Yet your mind and your heart pull in opposite directions, so even if you’re willing to forgive a thousand times, your hands remain cuffed by the weight of past suffering.
In The Kite Runner, perhaps Hassan would have chosen Amir a thousand times over, but he would always be a servant, never a friend.
I will always love you in a way that transcends all kinds of love. Yet you have shattered something deep within me; I think it's called trust. The world will forever be two halves of a whole for me: one for me and one for you.
But I will never again be able to share any part of myself with you.
